Duroxite® 200 Plate

Plate Wear Plate Overlay Plate Hardfacing Plate Abrasion Resistant Plate Steel Plate Clad Plate Chromium Carbide Plate AR Plate Weld Overlay Plate Impact Resistant Plate Wear-Resistant Steel Plate Mild Steel

Duroxite® 200 is made from specially engineered abrasive materials applied to a mild steel backing plate, designed to withstand severe abrasive wear and high to moderate impact conditions. The overlay consists of primary chromium-rich carbides and finely distributed multiple-alloy complex carbides, all embedded in a ductile eutectic austenite matrix. Available in both single and double layers, Duroxite® 200 provides flexible options for a range of wear-resistant steel plate applications.

Key Benefits

  • Multiple-alloy complex carbides are harder and finer than chromium carbides, interlocking between the primary chromium carbides to enhance wear resistance.
  • This results in a longer service life and improved wear resistance compared to conventional chromium carbide overlay and hardfacing plates.
  • Double-layer overlay plates retain their full wear resistance even at temperatures up to 600°C (1100°F).

Typical Applications

Duroxite® 200 is commonly used across various industries, including mining, cement, and steel. Specific applications include:

Mining Chutes, liner plates, conveyors sides, underground mine skips
Cement Cement furnace components, sinter plant parts, fan blades, mixer blades, gyratory mantles, coal and cement pulverizer rolls, raw material crushing components, molding panels
Steel Ore sintering, crushing, riddling, blast furnace hoppers, throats, and ovens

1) Surface hardness is measured on machined flat surface just below overlay surface.

2) ASTM G65 – Procedure A weight loss, is a standard test measuring sliding abrasion resistance using a dry sand/rubber wheel apparatus. ASTM G65-Procedure A is the most severe test method.

3) ASTM G65 – Procedure A weight loss, wear test is conducted at 75% depth of the overlay materials to ensure consistently good wear resistance from the top surface through to the depth of 75% of the overlay.

Microstructure

The microstructure of Duroxite® 200 features primary chromium-rich carbides and refined multiple-alloy complex carbides, with a hardness range of 2500 to 3000 HK, evenly distributed in a ductile eutectic austenite matrix. The primary chromium-rich carbides typically make up 30 to 40% of the volume, while multi-alloy complex carbides account for 7 to 10%, providing exceptional wear resistance in wear plates.

Tolerances

Thickness

The overall and overlay thickness tolerances are guaranteed to be within ±10% of the specified thickness.

Flatness

The plate flatness tolerance is guaranteed to be within ±3 mm (±1/8”) over a 1.5 m (5’) plate length for plates measuring up to 1.5 m (5’) x 3.0 m (10’). For plates larger than 1.5 m (5’) wide by 3.0 m (10’) long, the following flatness tolerances apply.

Delivery

Duroxite® 200 is typically supplied in an as-welded condition but can be provided in a ground condition upon request. This clad plate can be easily integrated into your operation as wear-resistant steel plates.

Fabrication and Other Recommendations

Welding, cutting, forming and machining

For recommendations, refer to the Duroxite® Products brochure or consult your local technical support representative.

Safety precautions

Welding or cutting Duroxite® products generates gases and harmful fumes that are chemically complex and challenging to categorize. The primary toxic component in the fumes is hexavalent chromium. It is recommended to use proper exhaust ventilation systems, fume-extraction torches, and appropriate protective clothing and respiratory protection for operators working with chromium carbide plates and weld overlay plates.
