Duroxite® 300 is a wear-resistant overlay steel plate designed to provide exceptional protection against severe sliding wear in both dry and wet (slurry) abrasive environments. This wear plate performs effectively at ambient temperatures as well as elevated temperatures up to 1100°F (600°C). It is available in both single and double-layer overlay plates.
The Duroxite® 300 formulation incorporates specially designed abrasive materials with unique glass-forming melt chemistry, enabling high undercooling. The overlay contains a substantial volume of ultra-fine tungsten-niobium-molybdenum-rich complex borocarbides, with a grain size refined to 500 nm. These borocarbides are fully integrated into a ductile matrix, preventing premature delamination, crack formation, and bridging. This results in a product that offers enhanced service life and maintains exceptional toughness, even in the most demanding sliding wear conditions. Duroxite® 300 serves as an excellent alternative to tungsten carbide hardfacing plates.

1) Surface hardness is measured on machined flat surface just below overlay surface.
2) ASTM G65 is a standard test measuring sliding abrasion resistance using a dry sand/rubber wheel apparatus. ASTM G65-Procedure A is the most severe test method.
3) ASTM G65 wear test is conducted at 75% depth of the overlay materials to ensure consistently good wear resistance from the top surface through to the depth of 75% of the overlay.
4) Duroxite 300 outperforms typical CCO in an SJE test. Typical CCO loses 0.0689 g at 20° and 0.0995 g at 45° impingement angles in the same test. Microstructure
Duroxite® 300 overlay steel plates feature an ultra-fine complex borocarbide phase, with a size of about 500 nm, embedded in a ductile matrix. The borocarbides typically make up 60 to 70% of the volume, creating a uniform, hard matrix. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectrometry) analysis of the Duroxite® 300 clad plate reveal that the refined borocarbides are tungsten-niobium-molybdenum-rich, along with chromium-rich borocarbides, all dispersed within an iron-based matrix. These ultra-fine borocarbides are roughly 200 times smaller than traditional chromium carbides.
Tolerances

Delivery
Duroxite® 300 is supplied in an as-welded condition.
Welding, cutting, forming and machining
Recommendations can be found in the Duroxite® Products brochure, or consult your local technical support representative.
Welding or cutting Duroxite® products generates gases and harmful fumes that are chemically complex and challenging to categorize. The primary toxic component in these fumes is hexavalent chromium. It is recommended to use appropriate exhaust ventilation systems, fume-extraction torches, as well as suitable protective clothing and respiratory protection for operators.
